On Saturday, April 22nd 2017, the WEB Supervisory Board, SWEB Development USA team, and the Community of Clifton Maine came together to celebrate the opening of the Pisgah Mountain Wind Project. The event was held in the open area downhill from the site, with guided tours of the site and turbines provided by WEB.
Although the weather was foggy and slightly rainy, the event was attended by over 250 people from the local community. People of all ages, from children to grandparents, came together to celebrate the benefits that wind power has brought to their community, and to learn about how wind projects are build and operated.
Over 120 people were brought on tours to the turbines themselves, and got the experience of standing inside machine. Speakers included Frank Dumeier of WEB, Paul Fuller of Pisgah Mountain, LLC, Stuart Lawrie of SWEB, a representative of Senator Susan Collins, Peter Vigue of Cianbro Inc. Refreshments were provided by the Clifton Country Store, who provided their new “Pisgah Mountain” sandwich as part of the spread.
The wind farm provides clean electricity for over 8,500 additional households, thereby saving more than 20.000 tons of CO2.
