Innovative “Heuriger” wine tavern equipped with photovoltaic system

Comprehensive W.E.B offer will generate clean energy in Neudörfl, Burgenland, Austria

This project may be seen as a quintessential energy transition project: it is the first one to be born from the initiative of the W.E.B energy transition partnership. In the sunny Burgenland region, WEB Windenergie AG installed a photovoltaic system with a total capacity of 49.68 kWp on the roof of the traditional wine tavern Heuriger Waldherr. What is special about this system is its design as a surplus energy feeder, which will reduce the tavern’s future consumption of external power. Still in time for the start of the sunny season, the new PV-system was put into operation on Monday, May 8, 2017, and is already generating clean electricity.

Nevertheless, the Waldherr family shows even more innovative spirit: the new W.E.B Green Energy consumer changed its power supply to 100 percent electricity made in Austrian power plants. And if that wasn’t enough, another project is planned to protect our climate: W.E.B will equip the customer parking lot of the tavern and adjacent vineyard with an ella charging station, so the electromobilists among the guests will soon be able to charge their cars.

“This project reflects so much of what W.E.B is made of: we are not only producing clean and regional energy, but also provide the Heurigen tavern with electricity from renewable energy sources. That fact that the same green energy will soon be used to charge electric vehicles is simply the icing on the cake. We are proud to have found such a great partner in the Waldherr family and work with them to successfully realize the energy transition,” as W.E.B CEO Frank Dumeier describes the forward-looking project with a smile.
