The town of Parbasdorf in the Lower Austrian district of Gänserndorf has just over 150 inhabitants, and so last Saturday’s opening of the wind farm Parbasdorf II was just as the town itself: small but mighty. In sweltering summer temperatures, Mayor Gregor Iser and W.E.B CEO Frank Dumeier officially opened the wind farm that has already been in operation for over a year.
The wind farm Parbasdorf II is the town’s second W.E.B site, as three Vestas V44 plants have been producing electricity for nearly 1,000 households per year since 1998. The new plants’ data demonstrates the technological progress in the field of wind power plants in recent years: the four Vestas V112 turbines with a total capacity of 12.3 MW have been supplying more than 10,200 households with clean energy ever since they were put into operation.
