Höflein is by no means unknown territory to WEB Windenergie AG and Energiepark Bruck/Leitha. W.E.B has been operating six wind power plants with a total capacity of 12 MW since 2011, while the 16 plants and 48 MW capacity of Energiepark Bruck/Leitha have been providing clean energy to the town since 2015. Their good experiences with Höflein encouraged the companies to launch a joint project to further expand the municipality’s wind energy portfolio. June 8 marked the ground-breaking ceremony for the new project with five wind power plants: W.E.B will build two and Energiepark Bruck/Leitha three of the 3.45 MW plants. The total capacity of the project will, therefore, amount to 17.25 MW. If everything goes according to plan, the first turbines will be connected to the grid by the end of the year.
“Höflein is a tried and tested wind power site with excellent wind conditions and people who fully support the project. That is the only way to actually accomplish the energy transition: together,” as W.E.B CEO Frank Dumeier happily comments on the project.
Energiepark Bruck/Leitha Director Michael Hannesschläger emphasizes the positive role of the Höflein community, “The Höflein West wind farm completes the wind power potential of Höflein and demonstrates how much a single community can contribute to the field of renewable energy.”
The first phase of construction has already begun and is characterized by the good relationship to the municipality of Höflein as well as the familiar interplay of the two cooperation partners. Supporting the field of renewable energy with great commitment, the inhabitants of Höflein and most notably Mayor Otto Auer play a significant part in a sustainable future. For this reason, the town of Höflein is one of the strongest wind power sites in the district of Bruck/Leitha.
