WEB Windenergie AG and Windkraft Simonsfeld AG built a total of eight wind power plants and finally put them into operation at the wind farm Dürnkrut-Götzendorf II. Located at one of the best and most profitable wind sites in Austria, the new plants will generate about 71.5 million kWh of clean, regional and green electricity per year, thereby providing sufficient energy for some 18,000 households. On February 25, Deputy Governor Stephan Pernkopf came to see the wind farm for himself as another step towards reaching the goals of the Lower Austrian energy strategy.
“This wind farm represents not only an important step in the energy transition of Lower Austria but also a vital element in our endeavor to increase climate protection. Moreover, it clearly demonstrates that both our municipalities and residents enable and support the expansion of renewable energy,” as Deputy Governor Stephan Pernkopf explained.
“As Austria’s leading citizen participation company in the field of renewable energy, we are very proud to complete this project in Lower Austria in close cooperation with our partners and involved municipalities,“ added W.E.B CEO Frank Dumeier. Nevertheless, he also pointed out, “This wind farm is an important step in our commitment to realize the energy transition. If we really wish to reach Austria’s climate and energy targets, we need many more such projects all across Austria.”
“Never before has it been more urgent to get active and involved in order to combat climate change and reach the required climate targets. We are happy to play a considerable part in this process with our new wind farm and the expansion of clean, regional energy from our Weinviertel region,” as Markus Winter, Member of the Executive Board of Windkraft Simonsfeld AG, is pleased to note.
