25 years in Michelbach

Anniversary of the first W.E.B wind power plant
It is 13 July 1995 at 10:02 p.m. The generator of Austria’s just third wind power plant is linked to the power grid in the Lower Austrian town of Michelbach. This represents an historic moment, because in this very minute the very first W.E.B wind power plant in the company’s history produced its first kilowatt of electricity. 25 years have passed since then, and up until now the facility has generated 20,437,934 further kilowatt hours of clean green electricity. The close to 100 people with a stake in WEB Windenergie AG has evolved into a company with more than 4,100 shareholders. Since then, the first W.E.B wind power plant in Austria has been followed by 238 additional plants in seven countries on two continents. Today, as in the past, many committed citizens comprise the driving force behind W.E.B, which is leading us into a sustainable future with clean, regional energy.
By the way, the wind power plant Michelbach will not wear out for a long time. The nacelle has been taken down and all the large components will be subject to a major overhaul in the coming months so that the very first W.E.B wind power plant will continue to operate and generate sustainable energy for a long time.
