Fresh energy: Great interest at the New Year’s talk
01/2021 - Back to overview
Successful start for the talk series “Fresh Energy”
As the traditional New Year’s reception of WEB Windenergie AG could not take place on site, W.E.B switched the New Year’s talk to an online session and attracted an impressive amount of interest: more than 230 investors attended the video conference on January 13.
The W.E.B Board of Directors, Frank Dumeier and Michael Trcka, took a look back at the challenging year 2020 and confirmed the stable performance of W.E.B in these past months. Despite slightly below-average wind conditions, a new production peak of 1,302 GWh was reported.
CEO Frank Dumeier directed everyone’s attention to our climate: “The climate crisis is still very real and unchecked. Five years after the Paris Agreement, not only more species but also biospheres are under threat than ever before.” At the same time, he is full of hope for the future: “COVID-19 showed us that humanity is able to react quickly and solve problems. Now the time has come for us to use these abilities on the climate crisis. W.E.B is ready and a key part in solving this problem.”
CFO Michael Trcka made clear that W.E.B still strives to shape the future together with its investors: “Our foundation is extensive public participation. This is why we wish to get as many people as possible involved in our ambitious plans. 2021 will be yet another year with several opportunities to join W.E.B and the creation of a sustainable future.” These ambitious plans envisage an investment volume of over 150 MEUR by 2022. To put this growth on a strong foundation, a capital increase and a bond issue are planned for the fall of the year. W.E.B will discuss the capital increase option in particular with its shareholders in the coming weeks and months so that the necessary approval can be obtained at the Annual General Meeting.
After the presentation of the W.E.B Board of Directors, Frank Dumeier and Michael Trcka sat down with the Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Josef Schweighofer, to answer the many questions and concerns of the participants. The first virtual New Year’s talk lasted for more than 2.5 hours.
