Half-Year Report 2016
08/2016 - Back to overview
Sales revenue only declined slightly compared to the record year 2015. The decrease can be attributed to the weak wind conditions, especially in the months of January, March and June 2016.
Sales revenue in the first half of 2016 amounted to EUR 35.2 million, close to the figure generated in the record year 2015.In spite of the weak wind conditions, the high level could be maintained due to the coming on stream of wind power plants in Canada and Austria as well as the comparatively good wind conditions prevailing in France.
As a result of the commissioned power plants and the related higher operating expenses, earnings before tax (EBT) in the first half of 2016 totaled EUR 6.7 million, down from the prior-year figure of EUR 9.9 million. However, earnings correspond to the level W.E.B expected in the light of the aforementioned wind situation.
In order to be able to compensate for months in the future which feature moderate winds, W.E.B is continuing its moderate growth path. The first W.E.B wind farm in the USA is scheduled to be connected to the power grid at the turn of the year 2016/17, and the wind farms in Baddeck, Brenton, Walton and Hardwood Lands in Canada are all planned to be put into operation this coming autumn. The wind power plant in Les Gourlus, France, the largest such facility in W.E.B’s history, should be commissioned at the end of 2016 or beginning of 2017 if things proceed optimally.
