Interim report on the third quarter 2018
11/2018 - Back to overview
Weak wind conditions and the expiration of tariffs cause decline in revenue
In contrast to the previous year, the wind conditions across Europe have been moderate at best in the first three quarters of 2018. In consequence of this wind situation and the expiration of subsidized tariffs, the generated sales revenue of the W.E.B Group amounted to MEUR 57.9 after the third quarter of 2018. This corresponds to a decline of 7 percent compared to the previous year. The W.E.B Group’s EBT amounted to MEUR 5.9 (2017: MEUR 13.1).
The growth strategy of W.E.B proved successful once more in the third quarter of 2018. In Austria the newly constructed wind farm Dürnkrut-Götzendorf II recently began generating clean electricity. Moreover, W.E.B acquired the photovoltaic park Arso and started building the wind farm Foce del Cornia in Italy, celebrated the ground-breaking ceremony for the repowering project Wörbzig RI in Germany, and entered into the construction phase of the wind farm Albert in Canada.
Nevertheless, a lot more happened in the first three quarters of 2018: the project Höflein West is just about to be completed in Bruck an der Leitha, Austria. The PV project Pöttsching (Mattersburg/Burgenland) is already in operation. In February W.E.B added the Italian PV park Conza to its portfolio, and in late May the French wind farm Flesquières was connected to the grid.
