Visitor record: Open Day 2024
09/2024 - Back to overview
On September 7, 2024, W.E.B welcomed around 2,500 visitors to the company premises in Pfaffenschlag. In bright sunshine, the open day offered a colorful mix of entertainment, information and insights into the world of renewable energies.
For a growing company like W.E.B, the company headquarters are of course also constantly evolving - and so the new office extension was inaugurated on the open day. Around EUR 1 million was invested in the office building, which is now home to just over 50 W.E.B employees. Both the façade and the roof are equipped with PV modules. 234 modules with 410 kWp and 5 modules with 260 kWp are already in operation.
Ceremony with guests of honor
Local presenter Andy Marek interviewed the guests of honor - including Federal Councillor Viktoria Hutter and the mayor of Pfaffenschlag Werner Liebhart - and the W.E.B board members. A performance by BMX rider Laszlo, who jumped over the courageous W.E.B board members Stefanie Markut and Florian Müller on his bike, provided an entertaining surprise.
Andy Marek accompanied the audience throughout the day, before performing with his band from 5 p.m. and delighting the crowd with Austropop classics.
W.E.B up close
As in previous years, the highlight of the Open Day was the guided tours of the company premises. Many visitors took the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes - for example in the monitoring center, from which all W.E.B power plants worldwide are controlled, or in the nacelle of a wind turbine.
Those who wanted to get active themselves could take the crane up to a height of around 80 meters or try out whether they could “pedal” enough energy for conventional or LED light bulbs. For the first time, it was possible to virtually climb a wind turbine using VR goggles.
Action and entertainment
A spectacular BMX show was just as much a source of amazement as the feats performed by aerial silks acrobat Walter Holecek on the crane. Performances by Sportakrobatik Dobersberg, the “Windradlplattler” and the Waidhofen an der Thaya folk dance group made the afternoon fly by. Thanks to the participation of numerous clubs, including the Waidhofen an der Thaya youth choir and the SC W.E.B Pfaffenschlag soccer club, the younger guests were able to enjoy face painting and goal shooting.
After a sunny autumn day with good food and exciting entertainment, visitors to W.E.B once again took home many positive impressions this year.
