W.E.B production results August 2016
09/2016 - Back to overview
Calm late summer weather brings down production results.
In terms of wind, this August was rather warm with wind conditions below average towards the end of the month. In consequence, the total production of 47,068 MWh came to a halt below target in August.
In the first third of the month, the weather usually stayed unpredictable with a few rather cool nights. Towards the end of the month, however, the high pressure system “Gerd” provided lots of sunshine and high temperatures. Sun worshippers were able to enjoy a wonderful late summer period. Stable air masses only lead to moderate wind production results, though. In Europe, the production results per country stayed below target. Once again, Canada’s existing plants boasted excellent results.
In the photovoltaic segment, Austria and the Czech Republic performed considerably better than expected. The Italian plants could not reach their monthly target due to the weather.
After last month’s severe weather conditions with lots of moved material, the clearing work in the town of Imst continued in August. For this reason, the results were negative for Austria in this technological segment. Germany was able to generate positive hydroelectric results in August.
