Sahara dust, extreme weather conditions and hardly any wind:
monthly production below target
The overall monthly production of 107,091 MWh remained clearly below the defined target in February.
Taking a closer look at last month’s weather, we would have to agree that it was a rather spectacular February. Sudden polar cold spells with temperatures of -20°C (-4°F) to mild weather with temperatures climbing to +20°C (68°F). Then there was the Sahara dust that turned nightfall into a golden spectacle – quite extraordinary.
The same cannot be said about the wind conditions, as February continued seamlessly where we took off in January. Extensive high-pressure systems once again blocked any low-pressure systems from the Atlantic. In consequence, Austria, Germany, the Czech Republic, Italy and the United States could not keep up with our expectations for the month. France and Canada brought some comfort with a plus in production.
The production results of the photovoltaic power segment are decidedly split in two. While Austria and Germany generated negative results, the Czech Republic and Italy overshot their marks by far, resulting in an overall plus for the segment.
In the hydroelectric power segment, Austria and Germany remained above target.
