W.E.B production results July 2022
08/2022 - Back to overview
Heat wave and drought:
Monthly production below target
The overall monthly production of 87,487 MWh remained below the defined target in July.
The month of July was very hot and very dry. Heat records were broken not only in Austria but also in many other European countries. In Great Britain temperatures exceeded 40° C (104° F) for the first time in recorded history, while extreme droughts caused great damage in the sectors of agriculture and forestry across Europe. The wind conditions were good in Austria, Czechia, Canada and the United States, and the W.E.B turbines performed above average. In Germany, France and Italy, however, the high-pressure influence was too strong and kept their productions below target.
The photovoltaic power segment benefitted from the same high-pressure influence and more sunshine than average. Austria, Germany, Czechia and the United States exceeded all expectations, while Italy could not keep up with production targets.
In the hydroelectric power segment, Austria and Germany remained below target.
