Heat and thunderstorms in June:
production results below target
The overall monthly production of 66,208 MWh remained clearly below the defined target in June.
June confronted us with rather different weather depending on the region; all in all, however, the month was rather mild and sunny. Germany’s national meteorological service, Deutscher Wetterdienst (DWD), and the Austrian meteorological service, Zentralanstalt für Meteorologie und Geodynamik (ZAMG) even reported the third-warmest June since the beginning of measurements.
In late June, the hot weather resulted in severe thunderstorms and a devastating tornado in the southern Czech Republic. Taking the whole month into account, however, it was far too quiet in terms of wind conditions in Europe. Austria, France, Germany, Italy and the Czech Republic could not keep up with our production targets. In Canada and the United States, the wind power plants of W.E.B generated a significant plus in production.
Lots of sunshine in Central Europe enabled Austria, Germany and the Czech Republic to boast excellent PV production results. As it was much cloudier in Italy, the PV production target remained out of reach. The PV power segment still concluded the month with an overall plus in production.
In the hydroelectric power segment, Austria and Germany remained below target.
