W.E.B production results May 2022
06/2022 - Back to overview
May weather defined by high-pressure conditions :
Monthly production below target
The overall monthly production of 79,386 MWh remained clearly below the defined target in May.
A high-pressure system above central and northern Europe dominated the month of May. This weather situation brought lots of sunshine and warm to summer temperatures, but hardly any wind. It is hardly surprising then that the production results in Austria, Germany, France, Italy and the Czech Republic remained, some clearly, below target. While the wind conditions were a little better than average in Canada, the United States could not keep up with expectations due to a scheduled shutdown of several days to connect the new wind farm Silver Maple to the power grid. Needless to say, the photovoltaic power segment benefitted from the impact of the high-pressure system. Austria, Germany, the Czech Republic and the United States boasted excellent PV results, some significantly above target. Italy suffered from cloudy weather as the negative outlier in the list.
In the hydroelectric power segment, Austria and Germany remained below target.
