W.E.B production results September 2016

10/2016 - Back to overview

Continuous high-pressure weather leads to weak production results in September

An extraordinarily long and widespread high-pressure period provided for a predominantly dry, extremely warm, and sunny September all across Europe. As such stable air masses do not offer lots of kinetic energy, it also hardly surprising that our monthly total production of 36,038 MWh did not reach its target in September.

In the wind segment, none of our European production countries was able to achieve its production targets. In contrast, our Canadian plants performed much better than expected.

Our photovoltaic power plants in Austria and the Czech Republic benefitted from ideal weather in September, which also led to corresponding results. Italy did not experience the same weather conditions, so Italian production results remained slightly below average. The overall photovoltaic segment stayed above target.

Dry weather conditions had an impact on hydroelectric power as well. Therefore, this segment concluded the month with negative results in Austria and Germany.

In terms of our production to date, we are still 45,222 MWh behind compared to our annual production plans; this deficit corresponds to shortfall in sales of about EUR 4 million. So far, 2016 has been the second-worst wind year since 2007. From today’s point of view, we would need an extremely stormy autumn to make up for this production deficit until the end of the year.
