Wind farm in Apricena is in operation
11/2024 - Back to overview
Apricena is a small Italian town in Apulia that calls itself the “town of marble and stone”. Located not far from the sea, the landscape is characterized by marble quarrying, olive trees and wind power! At the end of October, W.E.B put four turbines in operation here, with a total output of 12 megawatts. The annual yield of the wind farm will be an estimated 25 GWh of clean electricity. Apricena is W.E.B's third wind farm in Italy after Piombino and Ariano. The total capacity of W.E.B plants in Italy now amounts to 128 MW.
Almost more important than the wind farm itself is the role it plays for the operator. The province of Foggia, where Apricena is located, is a favorable location where the Italian W.E.B development team would like to realize further projects.
W.E.B also attaches great importance to strong, regional partnerships in Italy: one of the main suppliers, “Interscavi Sassano s.r.l.”, which has taken on the earthworks, road construction and other construction activities, comes from the immediate vicinity.
